Instagram Story Viewer

Anonymous · No login · Free

Public profiles only, and your own account is never used

GazeStory is a free Instagram story viewer for public accounts: it works anonymously, without logging in, and opens their stories, highlights, grid posts and reels. Your own Instagram account is never used, which keeps your name off the viewer list, and no app or extension is needed.

Three steps, start to finish

  1. Paste the username. Type the username or paste the profile link. The @ and the domain are optional; we strip both for you.
  2. Press View. The profile starts loading at once. No sign-in screen appears, you are never asked for a password, and no email is sent.
  3. Watch or download. Stories, grid, reels and highlights each get a tab. Video plays right here, with a download button beside every photo and clip.

What you can open

  • Stories

Everything a public account posted in the last 24 hours, in the order it was published, photos and video alike, until Instagram takes it down.

  • Highlights

The pinned story collections on a profile, including every cover image and every individual clip filed inside them, however old.

  • Posts and reels

The latest grid posts, captions in full, with how many liked and commented on each; reels get a separate tab.

  • Profile picture

The picture appears square, left at the size it arrives in, rather than the circle Instagram draws. It opens on its own and downloads in one click.

What you get

  • An empty story tab, explained

A stories tab with nothing in it is not broken: that account has simply posted nothing in the past day. The page then points to the highlights. Anything for close friends stays hidden.

  • Highlights viewer: clips of any age

Instagram highlight clips each open on their own. Putting an old story in a highlight never restarts its 24-hour list of names, so after that first day the owner sees a count only.

  • Posts and reels, recent ones first

The newest posts load first, more follow as you scroll, a few dozen at most. Reels get their own tab. The viewer shows the full caption, its age and the comments.

  • Profile viewer, picture and header

The header gives the bio and the counts; tapping either counter brings up the first accounts that follow it or that it follows. Private accounts get just the picture, name, bio and a lock.

  • One-click downloads

Every photo and every video saves as the file the source serves: JPEG for most photos, WebP for a few, MP4 for video, at whatever size it arrives, with no watermark added.

  • No search history

This site keeps no history of what you search, and the recent list lives only in your browser. The data provider behind the lookups does see requests; the privacy page says what.

Questions people actually ask

Is GazeStory free? Are there any limits?

Yes, 100% free. Nothing sits behind a paid tier, and no card or trial is involved. Requests can be limited for a while; a lookup that fails then shows a plain notice, and a Retry button follows once a short countdown ends.

Do I need an Instagram account or password?

Neither: GazeStory works without an account, and there is no sign-in screen. Never type an Instagram password into any viewer: a genuine one has no use for it, and asking is the clearest sign of a fake.

Will the account owner know I viewed their story?

Not that it was you. A story view is recorded against the account that opened it, and yours is never used here. At most, some stranger's handle might turn up on the owner's list. How anonymous story viewing works.

Can I view private accounts or private stories?

No, only public ones. A private account is a choice its owner made, and no viewer can get around it. A site claiming otherwise is lying or after your password. Private Instagram accounts, explained.

Can I watch and save reels too?

Yes. Reels have their own tab next to posts, shown tall as in the app. Each one plays on this page and saves as an MP4 with one click, the same as any other video here.

How many posts does the posts tab show?

The newest ones first, and more as you scroll, up to a few dozen. Each carousel slide gets its own card; the viewer shows the full caption, comments and anyone tagged. There is no tagged tab.

What formats do downloads come in?

Photos save as JPEG (a few arrive as WebP) and videos as MP4, one click per item, at whatever size the source serves. This site adds no watermark.

Where is the recently viewed list kept?

Only in your own browser's local storage, and it is never sent anywhere. The Clear button next to the list empties it, and so does clearing site data. Private windows discard it when they close.

Is it safe? Do you store my searches?

This site stores neither your searches nor their results. The lookup goes through this site's own server to a third-party data provider, which receives the username but not your IP address. What leaves your browser.

Could looking at stories this way get me in legal trouble?

Viewing content published to everyone is, in most countries, not on its own against the law, but local law decides and this is not legal advice. Instagram's own terms are a separate matter. Law and platform rules, side by side.

How do I ask for my content to be removed?

At the source: the owner may delete the post or turn the account private, and anyone may flag it to Instagram. Nothing is hosted here, though the DMCA page address answers each copyright notice.

Everything below is the short, honest version of how anonymous viewing works, what it cannot do, and what Instagram sees when you use it.

What an anonymous Instagram viewer actually is

An anonymous Instagram viewer is a web page that loads the parts of a profile its owner published to everyone, and displays them outside the app. Instagram records a story view only when a logged-in account opens the story, because the view is stored against that account. No Instagram account of yours is involved here, so your name cannot end up on that list, highlights included. The owner may still see a view from an account they do not recognise. This site cannot check when that happens, but the account in question is never one of yours. There are no like or comment buttons either. The limits are just as plain: a private account stays closed, and a deleted story is gone.

Why people look at a profile from outside the app

Most visits are ordinary caution: reading a public profile before replying to a message, accepting a job, paying a small shop or meeting someone an app suggested, without announcing the visit. Others are routine work: a marketer checking what a competitor posted this morning, a journalist confirming what a source said in public, a recruiter going through a portfolio, a parent reading an account their child follows. Many people simply do not want another app, or an account that exists only to look at one profile. None of this needs a justification. The profile was published to be read, and reading it signed out is the same act as reading it signed in, minus the entry in a viewer list.

Looking at content its owner published to everyone is, in most places, not on its own against the law. Instagram’s terms of service are a separate matter: written as a contract with the people who sign up, governing how account holders use the platform. The details differ from country to country, and where you live decides in the end. As for who sees what: the account owner does not see your name, at most a view from an account they do not know. This site’s own server fetches profiles through a third-party data provider, which receives the username looked up but never the IP address of your connection; photos then reach your browser directly from Instagram’s media servers, and clips are relayed by ours. This site holds no search history. Every search puts the username in the page address, which server logs can record, and the recently viewed list stays in your browser until you clear it.

Latest from the blog

  • What the Instagram story viewer order means

The list of viewers is ranked by how much each account interacts with the poster on Instagram, with accounts that liked the story at the top, however few viewers there are. In the standard app, watching again did not move anyone up. A high place reflects that history of interaction, not how interested someone is in the story.

  • Is GazeStory safe to use?

GazeStory never asks for a password, an Instagram login or an email, and this site keeps no log of what you look up. The data provider that fetches each profile for this site's server learns the username you entered, while your IP address and the name of the asking site stay hidden from it. Your Instagram account is not used, though the owner may see a view from an account they do not recognise.

  • Is it legal to view Instagram stories anonymously?

It is three questions, not one: what the law says, what Instagram's terms say, and whether your own account is at risk. Merely viewing what an account has made public is, in most countries, not on its own against the law, but local law decides and this page is not legal advice. What changes the picture is what happens next, such as following one person or reposting what you saved; viewing through this site does not use your account.
